Gale Garriott is the Executive Director of The Federation of Tax Administrators (FTA), which provides research and information exchange, training, intergovernmental and interstate coordination services to state tax authorities and administrators in each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia and New York City.
During his time in the United States Army, Gale spent 15 months as an Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery.
Gale served as a Staff Attorney for the Arizona Court of Appeals, as a Hearing Officer for the Arizona Department of Revenue and as Chief Counsel for the Tax Section and for the Civil Division (overseeing the Tax Section) of the Arizona Attorney Generals Office. He became Deputy Director of the Arizona Department of Revenue in 2003 and Director in 2005. He has served on the FTA Board of Trustees since 2006. Garriotts law degree is from Valparaiso University School of Law and his Master of Laws in Taxation is from the University of Florida. He has served in private practice with a Phoenix law firm (Lewis and Roca).
